2022 French Open: All details including Broadcasting and Streaming Platforms

2022 French Open HNC Sports

The French Open is a Grand Slam tennis tournament that will be held on outdoor clay courts in 2022. It will take place from May 22 to June 5, 2022, at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, and will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competition. There will also be junior and wheelchair tournaments. In men's singles, Novak Djokovic is the defending champion, and in women's singles, Barbora Krejková is the defending champion.

The French Open will be held for the 126th time, and it will be the second Grand Slam event of 2022. Out of 128 players in each draw, there will be 16 qualifiers for men and 16 qualifiers for women in the main singles draws.

Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the international governing bodies of tennis have authorized players from Russia and Belarus to continue competing in tennis events, but they will not compete under the names or flags of Russia and Belarus until further notice.

France

The broadcast rights to the French Open are held by France Télévisions and Amazon Prime Video until 2023.

United Kingdom of Great Britain

The French Open tennis tournaments were broadcasted by ITV Sport and Eurosport until 2021. ITV4 broadcasts the most of the daily programming, while ITV also broadcasts the singles finals and other weekend matches. The show is hosted by John Inverdale. Nick Mullins, Jonathan Overend, Mark Petchey, Sam Smith, Jim Courier, Fabrice Santoro, and Anne Keothavong are among the commentators.

Barbara Schett hosts the Eurosport studio program for the French Open, which is occasionally accompanied by Mats Wilander. Simon Reed, Chris Bradnam, Nick Lester, Jason Goodall, Jo Durie, Frew McMillan, Arvind Parmar, and Chris Wilkinson are among the commentators.

United States of America

The French Open has been broadcast on NBC since 1975.

The tournament's pay television rights are owned by Tennis Channel. From 2007 to 2015, coverage of morning window (US time) matches was sub-licensed to ESPN for broadcast on ESPN2. ESPN stated in August 2015 that it would end its sub-licensing agreement and stop covering the French Open beginning in 2016, saying that the coverage "did not match our successful model at the other three Majors"—where ESPN is the exclusive rightsholder—due to the nature of the agreement. Tennis Channel elected to keep these rights under its new owner, Sinclair Broadcast Group, virtually tripling the amount of Roland Garros coverage Tennis Channel will have.

Since 1983, NBC has been the American television network that has broadcast the French Open, with the exception of a three-year spell on CBS. Since acquiring the Indianapolis 500 rights in 2019, NBC has started airing coverage on Memorial Day, the second day of the race; the network has coverage windows on the holiday and the second weekend in the afternoon U.S. time.

These windows include exclusive tape-delayed events from earlier in the day, however any continuing matches at the start of the window are broadcast live until the end. The men's and women's semifinals are shown live on NBC in the Eastern Time Zone and taped in other time zones, however since 2017, these matches have also been simulcast on NBCSN to provide nationwide live coverage. The finals are broadcast live across the United States.
